Russia is seventeenth biggest holder of US securities
Russia is the world’s seventeenth-biggest holder of US securities. As of end June last year the securities in question totalled some 150 billion dollars. This follows from the latest report that the US Department of the Treasury circulated yesterday. Accoridng to the report, Russia was unloading US securities in 2008 and 2009. In 2007 Russia was the thirteenth-biggest holder of US securities in the world, with overall investment standing at 223 billion dollars. According to the latest report, 9.7 trillion dollar worth of US securities were held the world over in the middle of last year, as against 10.3 trillion dollars, a year before. The ITAR-TASS news agency reports that the leading investors are China and Japan. Russia is seventeenth biggest holder of US securities.
